Forklift Drops $1M Worth of Red Wine
Theres no use crying over spilled milk, but spilled wine? Thats another story. Especially when its $1 million worth. An unsteady forklift dropped a container full of fine Australian wine, smashing most of the bottles. Sparky Marquis of Mollydooker Wines tells the AP that when workers opened up the dropped container, “it was like a murder scene. There was red everywhere.”
The winemaker is “gut-wrenched, shocked and numb” after losing a third of his Velvet Glove Shiraz production. The accident demolished all but one of the 462 cases bound for the United States—and each bottle sells for $200. On the upside, the wine was fully insured; on the downside, the accident has crippled Mollydookers US launch in September, and will reportedly impact the wine market in Australia.
